Richard Ghueldre
Partner Richard Ghueldre is in charge of Gide’s Insurance practice group. He specialises in providing counsel and litigation assistance in insurance and reinsurance matters, as well as in tort law. He also has in-depth experience of insurance contract law (life and non-life), regulatory issues concerning corporate and insurance intermediaries (establishment, operational aspects and restructuring), as well as setting up insurance programmes and distribution schemes both in France and abroad.
Richard acts as regular counsel for numerous traditional insurance actors as well as banking and financial operators, industrial groups and service providers, in addition to foreign law firms dealing with insurance issues. He can also draw on broad experience in class actions and dispute resolution, particularly before the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority.
Richard holds a PhD in law from Paris I – Panthéon Sorbonne University, and teaches insurance law at the Paris I and Paris Dauphine universities as part of the Paris insurance institute, whose alumni association (ADIAP) he chairs. Richard is a member of various professional insurance associations (AMRAE, AJAR, UJARF, Intermedius) and of the Legal High Committee for the Financial Markets of Paris (Haut Comité Juridique de la Place Financière de Paris).
He is the author of several articles on insurance and re-insurance, co-author of the Lamy Assurances on all aspects of insurance-related issues, and secretary to the Revue Générale du Droit des Assurances.
He is listed as a “Leading Individual” by the Chambers and Legal 500 directories, and was named “Insurance Lawyer of the Year” in 2015 and 2017 by Corporate LiveWire.
